Handpainted Ribbon

This shimmering nylon ribbon is shot with fine gold thread and hand painted. It is 1" (2.54cm) wide and approximately 53" (135cm) long. The eight ends in a set will make a braid approximately 22" (56cm) long.

The strands of the pre-cut ribbon are folded in half to create the eight ends for braiding and held together with a tie. This kind of start eliminates the waste that you get with cut ends. The end with the tie can be put through the hole in your marudai or use it as a handle for the disk or plate. When you are finished cut the tie close and add your finding. Should you need a fringe at both ends, bind off the braid below the point where you want the fringe and cut the tie and unbraid. Steam the braid and fringe.

The ribbon varies in pattern due to it's hand painted nature. In some cases the color placement in each strand of a set is generally similar. In others four of the strands will have color in one area and the other four in another. Think of the two different dye patterns as color A and color B. Try placing them on the disk or marudai (starting at the top) AA, BB, AA, BB or AB, AB, AB, AB or AB, BA, AB, BA. You will see that you design will change depending on the placement. You can make samples with yarn to see what you prefer.

I find that my photographic skills need polishing, generally these photos are a little light, but I didn't want to wait any longer to offer the ribbon for sale. Monitors and browsers change the color of what you see so I have listed the colors, in no particular order, to help better describe this beautiful ribbon.

Antique Roses
caramel, sand, dusty rose tint, wheat, wintry smokey sunset

Arabian Nights
teal greens, navy purples, the magenta in this photo is really a deep red violet, golden brown, dark smoky teals

Sunset
a warm collection of golden and rosy browns and soft plum

Golden Roses
deep reds to maroons turning to black, warm golden browns, red violets

L'Ingenue
brilliant blue, sage and mossy greens, coppery browns and golds

Midnight Shadows
silvery taupes and pewter, aubergine, all very warm and comforting

Peacock
can't get any closer to a peacock than this! The colors are richly saturated blues and greens.

Sea Breeze
soft ocean blues, to pale slate, blue lavender and sea glass greens

Tumbleweed
sand with a hint of gold, muted olives and lavender, sea greens and green teals
