The ends of your braid can be finished off with a tiny touch of glue to keep the threads all together or bound in the traditional way.
Open the ball and socket so that you are handling only one half at a time. Note that the front of the crimp has the smooth edge.
For the Embossed clasps you may find that sliding the braid into the crimp from one side is easiest. If you run a pin through the braid at the end it will allow you to hold the braid up against the end of the crimp.
For the Smooth clasps you will need to put your braid in from the front. Use a toothpick or dental tool to adjust the braid as necessary. Then fold down the side brackets to hold the braid in place. Now crimp the whole clasp over the brackets and into the braid.
If you wish, you can glue the braid to the crimp and wait until it dries before closing the crimp over the braid, that way you won't have to worry about the braid coming out of position.
Use padded chain nose pliers or felt padded pliers so that they will not mar the surface. You can also use a piece of cloth to cover the crimp end if you don't have padded pliers. To crimp the ends together over the braid come from the side of the crimp end and gently apply pressure.
Once you have closed the crimp end it is very hard to open so be sure you have it just the way you want it before you close it.
