Chinese braiding using a basket

After studying the photos I used old wooden weavers pirns (bobbins) weighted with beads. They each weigh approximately 34g. I have placed two sand-stuffed animals in the basket (which has seen better days and isn't very round) as they are heavy enough to counter the weight of the bobbins.

The braid is 2 ends of 60/2 silk but I should have used at least 4 ends as that is probably closer to the silk traditionally used. The silk is simply called 2-ply silk in Chinese Braid Embroidery.
